Humans are social creatures which means living with family, working on team, having fun with others and many more. It sounds great as you know that each people always need each other. In a simple way, people can’t live alone since always need interaction with fellow anytime. Many kinds of interactions and one of them is negotiation.

That’s why a question arises viz How to negotiate with people?

A simple question but it has a lot of meanings that hard to explore in details. You as one of people who live in the world, of course need negotiation for better result as you wish beforehand. Not only you, people around you also think about how to negotiate with you. Sounds unique, doesn’t it?

Negotiation means a strategic discussion to solve a problem in both sides and finally to reach an agreement. That sounds simple but you should seriously remind. No exact time or place for you to negotiate with people since it can happen anytime and anywhere. As no exact time, then you should be ready to do and you just can rely on yourself, nobody else.

Negotiation for win-win solution

Talking about how to negotiate with people means you have to understand several steps to do. Firstly, you can make an offer by being a good negotiator. It means people will respect on your way to show your offer. Don’t forget to provide terms on your offer in detail. Remember, people tends to get details by reading without asking.

On this step, you should use word wisely while negotiating with people. Here people know that you are polite guy and always show the best performance. Afterwards, try to be good listener and ask about their offer. Make sure, both offers are related and it can be done.

The problem on how to negotiate with people is sometimes both offers are not related each other. For instance, your offer is about ABCD and your partner ask for EFGH. According to this, no solution will come and both of you will be frustrated.

Of course, you should offer win-win scenario on how to negotiate with people and both will agree. It means an agreement will happen. Probably you change the offer to be BCDE and he reset the offer being CDEF. If something like this happen, both of people will be satisfied. At least there C,D and E points similar and fulfill the needs.

You can do negotiation with people around you or perhaps when you are traveling, just try to negotiate with fellow backpacker or even locals. It will be something unforgettable and fabulous because you get something precious on your trip.

Beside on trip, you can also to practice on your working place such as startup or corporate. Try to do and look at the result. Of course, your experience will help you totally.

Besides, you can also negotiate when you are a salesman. Try to talk and offer your stuff and people will buy yours. Remember, sales means negotiation. Interesting, isn’t?
