Today, English is a good skill to have for everyone since it is an international language, and you should be able to speak it. Probably you become better by speaking more languages, other than English. Not only yourself, but you should also keep supporting your friend to learn English.
Sometimes, people don’t want to learn English because they are mocked when they start talking. The reason could be grammar, vocabulary and many more. It makes them stop learning English. Here, you should do the opposite way.
Why should keep supporting to learn English?
You should keep supporting your friend to learn English since you can get a lot benefits. Such as, your relationship with them becomes warmer and probably you can be assigned as their English teacher. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Supporting friend to learn English is also positive thing you can do. You will be happy if they finally speak well. Remember, do it in relaxed way and you are never pushed under pressure. Get it?
How to teach them on learning English?
The first thing you should teach is to never worry about grammar. When you support friend to learn English, remember about speaking first and grammar will follow up later. Make them remember about concept “misunderstand”.
What is that? It means, you miss but people still understand. Looks great? You see that a lot of native English speak without right grammar, and it is okay. As long as people understand what you mean, there are no problem at all.
Secondly, never care about the accent. Some people really want to speak English in British or American accent, but they can’t. Of course, since they are not from those countries. Language never cares about the accent, only several people who care on that.
You see, a lot of people such as Spanish, Russian and Italian speak English with clear “R”, when actually the native doesn’t sound the letter clearly. The other one is Japanese who say “soka” for soccer. Looks great?
